Bone Broth Cleanse Day 3 – Getting in the Groove

Green Lake Park

Seems like day 3 of the Osso Good 7 day bone broth cleanse is the day my body starts to feel like its winning the battle against my guilty pleasures (Noodles, Bread, & Beer). Consequently, every time I finish a cleanse, I eat better, I feel better, and my healthy habits stick. I knew today my energy level was going to need last, my wife was working, my son had toddler school, and it was one of the first sunny Seattle days in a quite some time. Hence, in the words of my son it was time to “play play play!” For the most part, he’s a natural outdoorsman like his father.

Breakfast and Lunch

Same ole’ 15 oz. of Osso Good’s Chicken Bone Broth w/ coffee and leftovers for lunch.

Due to an afternoon running around the park with my Osso Good Boy, I hit an energy wall and needed to recharge. I decided to reboot with Osso Good’s Mango Bone Broth Smoothie. I love mango and you can really all whatever flavors you desire. Also, when I feel I need some greens I throw in some spinach with the mangos and broth and you can barely taste it.

Creamy Sausage and Kale Soup

Finally, dinner! I have a childhood favorite when it comes to soup. Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana. However, I stopped going to Olive Garden when I was high school after I found a bandaid in my soup. But those breadsticks though, right! Therefore, if I was going to make a number of meals for the Osso Good 7 day bone broth cleanse. Because OG’s uses heavy cream, I essentially just swapped that out for coconut milk. As a result, I felt the need to make a paleo take on my favorite childhood soup and it was delicious.

Ingredient List

  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 medium cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon whole fennel seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lb uncooked Hot Italian Sausage, crumbled and chunked
  • 10 baby carrots, cut into 1/4 pieces
  • 1 head of Kale, de-stemmed & cut into bite sized pieces
  • 2 medium stalks celery, cut into 1/8″ half-moons
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 5 cups Chicken Bone Broth
  • 2.5 cups Spicy Pork Bone Broth
  • 1 13.5-ounce can of coconut milk
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • Add more pepper flakes if you want more zip
  • Add some potatoes if you want some more starch, I prefer the mixed colorful thumb potatoes, you cant go wrong
